"he’s all over the music like a man
with the most vibrant lust for life"
Nic Jones - All about Jazz

Bassist Albey Balgochian, plays a visionary style of bass.
Like a great many improvisational artists, his background in
blues, r&b, funk, reggae, and world beat have a profound
    influence on his sound.

Part of the downtown music movement since the 1970's,
his profile has escalated since joining with Cecil Taylor
(Trio, AHA2:3, & ”Orchestra Humane” big band 2004-2006)
The Big Band performances at the Iridium 2.20.05 was rated
“New York's Best of 2005”  by All About Jazz .

Balgochian's avant-garde funk bass playing is a dynamic
driving force on the NYC improv/experimental music scene,
with regular appearances on Manhattan Neighborhood
Network television as well as youtube and Abop tv.
